I have many wonderful memories and reflections of Elinor as I was growing up. It was her cheerful and bright personality that contributed so much to making the frequent family get-togethers such a delightful, enjoyable, and memorable time for me. Thinking of all of you as you celebrate Elinor's remarkable life.

This poem by Margaret Widdemer expresses better than I what a wonderful mother & grandmother we were blessed to have watch over us. I greatly miss her and am thankful to have had her as my mom.
The Watcher
She always leaned to watch for us
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were all so full of us,
She never could forget,
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting ‘til we come home to her
Anxious if we are late
Watching from Heaven’s window
Leaning from Heaven’s gate.

Gram was one of my favorite people on this earth. When i was a little she picked us up from daycare every Friday and went to McDonald’s, and if we didn’t we either had spaghetti or Mac and cheese... we had sleepovers all the time and played dolls, Barbies, and store as I grew up. She moved to Georgia with us when I was 16 years old and we spent a lot of time together. She let me drive her around to get practice for my license, came prom dress shopping with me, supported me throughout my high school and college educations and when I had Jaxson we were home all the time together. We bonded over wine, coffee, coffee cake muffins, and so much more. She was there for me when I got my heart broken and always celebrated my success. Going to see her was the highlight of mine and Jaxson’s weekends and we missed her so much when she moved but loved hearing about her new place. I know she is in heaven with her love, my grandpa J, pewter & sparky with Richard smiling down on all of us. Gram was a kindhearted, loving, and genuinely all around good soul. I miss her so much but am thankful for the time we had together

Aunt Elinor was my mother's twin sister. Although we moved to Texas when we were kids, Aunt Elinor was always there for us. My sisters and I have fond memories of visiting Connecticut to see Aunt Elinor, Uncle Bob and our cousins. I remember their house with the pond in the back and the neighbors above-ground pool across the street. She came to Texas when she could for trips. Aunt Elinor attended my wedding as well as my three sisters. She also came for my father's funeral to support my mom and us. I remember when my mother broke her hip and was in the hospital, Aunt Elinor called her every day to check on her. They had a special bond as twin sisters. On one trip she came out dressed in the same outfit my mom had. They had not planned this-they just had the same taste in clothes! Aunt Elinor was kind and funny and although we didn't see her often, we felt right at home in her presence. The last time I saw her was at my wedding. I have attached a picture of her beautiful smile with my husband and a picture from their double wedding and graduation. She will truly be missed and I feel blessed to have had her as a part of my life.
