It is with great sorrow that the family of Patricia (Patty) L. Hayward, 63, announces her sudden death on May 13, 2019. Patty was the beloved wife of her devoted husband Andrew (Andy) Hayward for 39 wonderful years. Born in Middletown on July 18, 1955, Patty was the daughter of the late Milton and Glenna Dudley. She worked 37 years as a CNA and enjoyed every minute of it.
Other than her soulmate Andy, Patty is survived by her son Steven Hayward and his wife Karissa, and their children Joshua and Seth, as well as Steven's son Brian, his wife Jennifer, and their precious daughter Julianna. Patty is also survived by her daughter Kristy and her husband Brent, and their children Kiley, Luke, and Jake, and her son Scott and his wife Michelle and their children Layla, Brady, Jemma. Patty also leaves behind her sisters Pamela Zingle and Gloria McCotter, and her brother Dennis Dudley as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.
Patty was the glue that held her family together. She was so proud of her grandchildren and beamed whenever she saw them. She loved the Yankees and enjoyed going to all her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She was their biggest fan! Patty's favorite place to visit was her and Andy’s beautiful seasonal campsite at Brialee Campground in Ashford. She just couldn't wait to get up there for her weekend retreats with her family.
Patty was the most selfless person in the world. She would give you the shirt off her back and comforted many in their most difficult times. She was a walking angel on Earth, and her family and friends often stated that she was the sweetest person they ever met. She was a friend to all, and her family and friends will miss her dearly. Her family will forever be grateful for her
teaching of true unconditional love.
A funeral service in memory of Patty will be held on Tuesday, May 21st at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Burial will be private. Patty’s family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 20th from 4 to 7 p.m. For online condolences, please visit

My condolences to the Hayward family. I spent so many hours growing up with all of you. I still vividly remember watching skate boarding video tapes in the living room with the brothers and Patty would by happy to hang out with us. Or when she would take care of me after stepping on a nail chasing you guys around the yard! Or getting overheated playing wiffle ball. She was so caring to all of us and also with my Mother and family in times of need. I will never forget all of the moments Patty was a part of my life.

My deepest sympathy to Patty's family. She was the best person I've ever known, always there no matter what to lend a helping hand or an ear. No mater how much time was between us nothing changed!
I will be forever grateful to her for helping me with my dad the last night of his life.
She will be missed. A true friend and a treasure. Always ending a phone call with "I love You"
Good Bye Sweet Patty. We all loved you!

To my old and loved neighbors, The Hayward’s
I am deeply saddened and so sorry for your loss. Pat was so full of life and laughter and a vibrant “loudness” that would have Kristy, my sister and I giggling about! She had a special mantra she’d proclaim lovingly when any of us kids weren’t happy about something..and that was “Ooooooh Wellllll!” Now looking back, I see she was instilling a little strength and resiliency in all of us..inspiring us to move forward and not to dwell...She was so proud of her matter what..Pat was a good friend to my mother when it counted most, and she compassionate toward my sister and I as we made our way through the teen years. I will remember her always.
Sending you all strength and love,
Jackie Pelosi-Harris
