Manuel Angel Torres, Jr. better known as Manny, passed on January 1, 2019 unexpectedly at his home. Born in Meriden on December 1, 1985 to Manuel A. Torres Sr. and Denise Gonzalez Torres.

He was a graduate of Maloney High School Class of 2003 and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Manny’s time on this earth was too short, but in that short time he lived and enjoyed his life. A semi-pro football player, who loved adventure and music. With his soft eyes and charismatic smile Manny touched the lives of many people he came across. No words can express the heartache of his untimely passing.

He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. With life’s ups and downs, he found comfort in his faith in God, and always found strength to move forward in life. He spent a lot of his time between Connecticut and Puerto Rico. His charming looks, hilarious jokes and honesty were some of the qualities he was known for. As a devoted son, father and brother he enjoyed spending quality time with his sons and family. A friend to all, he will truly be missed and remembered as a real one.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister Vanessa Torres, his two sons; Chase and Chance and a niece Chelsea. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Delma Gonzalez, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Sunday, January 6th from 12 to 4 p.m

Not a day goes by, where you don't cross my mind. A year ago today was the last time I got to see your beautiful face. It's been a year and none of it feels easier or hurts any less. I get this huge lump in my throat and hole in my heart, when I see your picture or hear your name. This was the biggest loss we've ever faced, nothing feels the same, the holidays weren't the same but we were all together. You were the only person that was missing, most of all your laugh, you would have had a field day with the game Vanessa brought over. Miss you ugg, more than you know. Watch over us, I know you'll be visiting me in my dreams again

Our beloved son, brother and father there is not a day that goes by that we don't think about you and talk about all the wonderful memories we shared. Our only wish is to have you back here with us so we can move forward with all the plans and dreams we had. We know you are with us always and when we are most down you give us a sign that all though you are not here in flesh you are here in spirit. We love you and pray each day for you. Please continue to watch over us from heaven. Love you Nene and miss you so so much. Ma, Pa, Nessa, Chase, Chance and Chelsea.

My brother would have wanted this to be quick and to the point! How do you shares one’s life and qualities in words? It is in the feelings we all are experiencing that show who my brother was. My brother was my first friend and my best friend. He loved without judgement, he listened with an open mind and he always spoke from his heart.
As children, we were always together. Wherever I went, my brother had to go. Our parents always told us to watch out for one another and because of that, our bond was like no other. My friends were his friends, and his friends mine. Many times people mistook us for twins, or he the oldest because of how protective he was of me. But no, Nene was my baby brother, my big, handsome, loving, one of a kind brother.
In his 33 years, he lived and experienced life to the fullest. He fathered two beautiful sons who he adored, his weekends were dedicated to cooking on the grill, swimming in the pool, hugging, kissing, and smelling them so much – always telling them how much he loved them. From the many trips we shared, concerts, casino nights, and just sharing time - Life will never be the same without you.
A son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, father and friend he touched the lives of many. I always knew he was special. His faith in God brought him comfort; he found joy in spending quality time, adventure in life and love in family. When I say family, my brother had many. From our four, to our family across Puerto Rico and Connecticut, our karate family, his football family, our camping family, his work family and friends who became family.
He could crack on you, and you would laugh so hard you’d cry. He was silly, fun, hardworking, a protector and most of all he was true to himself. I could never stay mad at him, just one dimpled smile or him calling me a nickname – that he gave to many of us – my brother, Manuel Angel Torres Jr., Junito, Gordo, Tio, Nene, Matt, Daddy, Pear, Manny Fresh, and my favorite Nerdo – was so very special.
During our time of mourning, the love shown for my brother is heartwarming. It confirms how very special he will remain. Although he is not here with us now, he will always be in our hearts, our memories and laughter. Nene you are LOVE – you left us behind, but your love is forever present. Rest in Peace brother – God Bless you and watch over us.

Estimada familia Torres,
