She resided in Meriden for most of her life and attended Platt High School. Karen received an Associate Degree from Manchester Community College, and was employed by Meriden Center/Genesis Healthcare as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for close to 20 years. In addition to her full-time employment at Meriden Care, she spent many years working per diem for various local nursing and rehab facilities.
Her family was her whole life. She was the world’s best Nanny to her six grandchildren affectionately known as Nanny’s “six-pack.” She loved spending time with them, whether it was attending dance recitals, concerts, art shows, sporting events, or taking them on dates for their birthdays that usually landed them at Cracker Barrel with a stop at Munson’s Chocolates on the way home…she rarely missed anything! She leaves behind many close friends, colleagues, and travel buddies whom she enjoyed dinners, shows, movies, and girls’ weekend getaways. She loved the beach, chocolate covered everything, and all things Disney, especially the family trips there over the years.
She is survived by Bert St. Pierre, a longtime friend and loving father of their two daughters; her two daughters Kristy and her husband Tony (Giacco) and Kasey St. Pierre and her fiancé Joe Lane, and her six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jack & Isabella Curry and Max, Sam & Jake Giacco, all of Meriden. She also leaves behind her niece Melody Penwell Esposito of Colchester, who was like a daughter to her and a nephew Mark Rich of Georgia who always held a special place in her heart. A sister Donna and her husband Rob Lamb of North Carolina; three brothers, Mark, Donald & John Rich, all of Meriden; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ms. St. Pierre was predeceased by her brother Russell Rich and her grandparents Howard and Ethel Creamer, who she missed dearly after their departures.
