John J. Ward Jr.,79, also known as “Jack”, beloved husband of Frances G. Harriman Ward, died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on October 18, 1939, he was the son of the late John J. and Cynthia E. (Hart) Ward. Jack was a lifelong Meriden resident and graduated from Meriden High School.

Mr. Ward was employed by the State of CT. Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Holy Angel Church and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by three daughters; Deborah Brooks, Lisa and Mary Ward, a son, Bryan Ward, nine grandchildren; Sarah (Dave), Jessica, Kenneth (Catie), Stephanie, Kyle, Christina, John J., Austin and Zachary, three great grandchildren; Samantha, Mikaela and Sinha and a sister, Carol Morton (Tom). He was predeceased by his twin son, John J Ward.

All services are private. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements.
