Anastasia L. Getman, 96, of Meriden, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 10, 2019 surrounded by her family. Anastasia was born on February 28, 1922 in Mahanoy City, PA to William and Anastasia (Churnosky) Lusckus. She was the youngest of eight children. Anastasia was a 1939 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and attended night classes in engineering drafting at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked in a drafting position at the Pelham Map Company in New Rochelle, NY before moving onto New York Bell to work as a telephone operator. Anastasia married Alexander Alphonse Getman on June 11, 1946 and they moved to Connecticut where she continued her career as a telephone operator at Southern New England Bell in Meriden. Together they lovingly raised six children.
Anastasia was a communicant at Saint Joseph Church and more recently participated in the Mass daily on television. Anastasia was a member of the Saint Joseph Rosary Society and for many years sewed Baptismal robes for the church. She kept active as a member and past president of the Meriden AARP Chapter 2954. She enjoyed line dancing with the New England Dance Association and at the local senior centers. Anastasia was an avid bowler, belonging to two senior bowling leagues.
Anastasia is survived by her children, Stephen Getman and his wife, Mary, Michael Getman and his wife, Sarah, Greg Getman and his wife, Jean, Alexis Burgess and her husband, Russ, Louise Getman, Lorraine Paris and her husband, Robert. Our sincere condolences for the loss of your mom. My mom, Doreen knew her very well from Victoria Towers and they were good friends. She was such a nice lady and always had a smile on her face. Our prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dear Louise and Family, I was just sick upon hearing that your Mom had passed. She certainly lived her life to the fullest under the gentle care of her family especially her girls, not that she needed much care. Louise would fill me in on what Mom was up to now and I'd have to sit down to rest. I always enjoyed it when Lorraine and Mom made it to our concerts with the Vestal Community Chorus....I'd get confused, seeing Louise in the audience and wondering 'what the heck' then seeing Mrs. Getman, then I knew it was Lorraine. Twins extraordinaire. I'd scamper out to the audience to Howdy. Mrs. Getman was such a lovely, loving woman and we got on like long lost friends in a matter of minutes. She was dearly loved by her girls (I never met any of the boys) I know you all will comfort each other from this day forward. It is not easy losing someone you love so much. I suspect your Mom will have the angels line dancing before long. My love to you all, Barb Cieri My love to you all, Barb Cieri

We are so sorry for your loss. When this happens in our family we need more than human strength. God and his Son can provide what we need. Please review these scriptures : John 5:28-29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
