Jane Paddock Petrucelli, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 14th, 2018. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 6th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles Loveland and Marjorie Doyle Paddock. Jane was a longtime resident of Meriden, and most recently resided in Colchester. Jane was a Physical Education teacher at O.H. Platt High School for over 30 years.
Jane was an active member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Colchester, CT. She was an avid world traveler in her retirement. She was a gifted interior decorator, as well as a superb landscape designer. Jane was well-versed and well-read, and her favorite conversations revolved around Biblical discussions. One always came away feeling enlightened and warmer in heart. She also spent her time caring for and loving her dog Siobhan.
Jane was a collector of antiques, and her home was a place of rest, comfort, and peace, with everything well placed with a precise meaning. In her earlier years, Jane was well-known for her beautiful voice and was often heard singing as a soloist at St. Rose in Meriden. She also sang with The Troupe with the Hartford Opera Company. Jane was also blessed with an artistic ability and was often found in front of a canvas with a brush in hand. Jane was most known for her work teaching the young ones of Meriden how to swim. Jane was a water safety instructor and trained thousands at Hamden High School, Hubbard Park, The YMCA, Meriden Park and Rec, and the Girls Club of Meriden. Jane also trained hundreds of lifeguards at Platt High School. Jane was a caring, warm, and eloquent lady with strength beyond measure.
She is survived by her loving sons John Petrucelli and his fiancée Holly Idec; Brian Petrucelli and his wife Megan; also Joanne Petrucelli; Romana Petrucelli; her granddaughters Lexi and Ariana; her sister Cindi Birdsey and brother-in-law Bob; her brother Charles Paddock and sister-in-law Sandie; her brother Kevin Paddock and sister-in-law Suzanne. Dear Brian, Sal and I want to express our sadness on hearing of your mom's sudden passing. We want you to know we would have attended her memorial talk if we could have. We too are dealing with a sudden loss. My brother Chuck Juliano passed two weeks ago today suddenly so i know what it feels like to lose a loved one so suddenly. It just doesn't seem real. We have a wonderful hope for the future so keep moving forward and let isaiah 41:10 comfort you. It won't be long and they'll be back. We are sending you our love. In case you don't remember us think of Jamaica 1980s and remember the fish face. We do. How could we ever forget you . Kept us laughing.

What a tremendous loss! Jane was a vibrant woman with many gifts. She was able to make everyone feel welcome and at ease in her presence. Her knowledge was extensive in the arts as well as in her love of the Bible. She loved her family and loved sharing memories of them. She could regale you with the stories of her travel and make you want to visit the places she went. I will miss my dear friend and miss the wonderful tea parties she hosted. I am so sorry for her loss. Bunny Probus
