Obituary for Carolyn Elizabeth Winner (Nemec)

Carolyn Elizabeth Winner (Nemec)
Carolyn Elizabeth Winner, of Cheshire, passed away following a short illness on Sunday, May 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Southington on April 28, 1923 to Joseph and Pauline (Witkovic) Nemec and was a graduate of Lewis High School (Southington High School) in 1941. Carolyn was employed by the Meriden Board of Education as a teacher’s aide, Napier as a jewelry inspector and Fosworth Co in Meriden. A parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, Christian service was important to Carolyn, and she devoted many years as a volunteer at Westfield Care and Rehab Center and the Meriden Soup Kitchen.
Carolyn married the love of her life, the late Charles Joseph Winner, and settled in Meriden where they raised their beloved son Robert. She also was the best Gramma her grandchildren could have hoped for. Time spent with family and friends was the most important thing in the world to Carolyn. She was truly the life of the party and was always ready to kick up her heels to dance and sing. She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Robert Winner, daughter-in-law Gail Winner, and her grandchildren, Collin, Devyn and Kristen Winner. She is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews. Carolyn was predeceased by her three sisters, Mamie Jankowski, Antoinette Lewkewich and Pauline Suschinsky and her brother Joseph Nemec.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on June 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery followed by a reception celebrating her life. As she would have wished, attendees are invited to wear bright and vibrant colors in celebration of her colorful life. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden from 8:30 to 10 a.m. prior to the service.
