George M. Purcell, 54, husband of Lori A. Krampitz Purcell passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on July 17, 1963, he was the son of the late Francis E. and Rita (Savino) Purcell. George was a lifelong Meriden resident. Mr. Purcell was a retired Lieutenant from the Meriden Fire Department with 23 years of service. George was an avid Red Sox and Seahawks fan. He was a member of Franco-American Club, the St. Mary’s Men’s Club and he enjoyed playing golf and baseball.
Besides his wife “Schnook” of 13 years, he is survived by three step-daughters, Peni Fotaras and her husband Manny and their son Stamos, Nicole Diamond and her son Nico, Jade Diamond and significant other Carlos Rosa and their daughter Riley; his mother-in-law, Jacklyn “Pookie” Krampitz. He is also survived by four sisters, Kathleen Decker and her husband Michael, Frances Purcell and her significant other, Dennis Lemay, Jane Erardi and her husband Francis and Eileen Riddle and her husband Ernest “Big Ern”, one brother, John Purcell and his significant other, Linda Spitznagel; a brother-in-law, Michael Krampitz and his wife Kathryn, several nieces, nephews, relatives and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward R. Purcell and his father-in-law, Michael D. Krampitz.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. Burial will be private.
