Francis "Frank" Rodrigues
Francis “Frank” Rodrigues, 86, of Meriden passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. He had been the husband of the late Florence (Koch) Rodrigues for 50 years.
Born on August 17, 1931 to the late Zulmiro and Ermelinda (Barbosa) Rodrigues of Westport, MA, Frank graduated from Westport High School, then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. During his service, he met and later married his wife, Florence, in 1953. The two finally settled in Meriden in the late 1950’s and raised a family of six children.
Frank was employed by Pratt and Whitney for 33 years, retiring in 1987. He also concurrently owned and operated Golden Home Improvements, as well as several rental properties in Meriden. His interests throughout his life included spending time with friends and family, traveling, bowling, golfing, going to the casino, playing cards, enjoying his cigars, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching golf, the Red Sox and the Patriots.
Frank is survived by his three daughters, Diane Cannistra of Meriden, CT, Patricia Rodrigues (Sean Corduff) of Westmoreland, NH, and Jean (Peter) Meade of Southington, CT; two sons, Brian (Antoinette) Rodrigues of South Windsor, CT and Steven Rodrigues of Middletown, CT; twelve grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Hank, Woody, Danza, Jaime, Brian, Alyssa, Ethan, Kyle, Sarah and Luke, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Almerinda “Mena” Tenchara and Beatrice (Clayton) Harrison, and brother in law, William Tripp of Westport, MA, as well as numerous sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his son, Francis Rodrigues, his brothers, Antone, Joseph, Joaquim, John, George, and Albert Rodrigues, and his sister, Helena Tripp.
The funeral will be held on Friday, June 1st at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden CT 06450 and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, St. Joseph Campus, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 31st from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, June 1st from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
