Obituary for Paul J. Gresh
Paul J. Gresh, 84, husband of the late Jean A. Gresh, died on April 15, 2018 at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Unionville, Connecticut on May 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Andrew and Katherine Gresh. Paul had resided in Meriden and Plantsville most of his life. He graduated from Farmington High School, Class of 1951. Mr. Gresh was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1989, and continued to work part time delivering flowers for Kogut Florist. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy from right after high school until his honorable discharge in 1959. He was stationed aboard the USS Lake Champlain (CVA-39).
Mr. Gresh was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Southington. He was also a member of the Southington Calendar House, and actively involved in the Pool Players Club and Senior Golf Club. He loved the game of golf since age 10 when he became a caddy. Mr. Gresh enjoyed travelling with his family, especially to Walt Disney World. A devoted grandfather, Mr. Gresh was very active in his grandsons’, David’s and Andrew’s, interests, never missing a sports event or marching band competition. He was very proud of all their accomplishments.
He is survived by his two daughters, Debra Gresh and Cheryl and her husband Kevin Palladino and his two grandchildren, David Paul Palladino and Andrew Kevin Palladino. He was predeceased by his four brothers, John, Michael, William (Marty) and Daniel Gresh.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington, CT 06489 with Rev. Adam Subacz officiating. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Meriden. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450 on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St, Southington, CT 06489 or Midstate Medical Center, Attn: Cancer Center, 435 Lewis Ave, Meriden, CT 06451.
