Dr. Peter Vouras Jr., 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Mid-State Hospital. Born in 1923 in Vamvakou, Greece, Peter emigrated to the United States in 1936. He graduated from Meriden High School in 1943, enlisted in the army upon graduation and served in Europe during WWII. After the war, Peter enrolled at the University of Connecticut and later Tufts Dental School. He practiced dentistry in Meriden for over 40 years. Peter was president of the Meriden-Wallingford-Cheshire Dental Society, served as president of the Connecticut Society of Dentistry for Children and was a corporate member of the Meriden Boys and Girls Club. He was a Kiwanian, Mason, member of AHEPA, and cribbage winning champion at the Y’s Men’s Club.
He is survived by his wife, Constance “Dena” (Panagos) Vouras of Middletown: son, Peter and daughter-in-law Salem Vouras of Woodbridge; daughter, Dr. Lisa Vouras of Brookline, MA and grandchildren, Tai and Arovet Vouras.
He leaves behind two sisters, Lillian and her husband Valentine Tella of Meriden, a Harriet and husband Peter Medes of Hawaii, and sister in law Elaine Peters of Farmington as well as several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main Street, New Britain. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6 p.m.
