Elwood C. Wotton, best known as “Woody”, 92, husband of the late Margaret (Orzech) Wotton passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Meriden Center after a long illness. Born in Lincoln, Maine on July 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Clyde and Anna (Maloney) Wotton.
Woody lived in Meriden for most of his life and retired from the Meriden Post Office after over 20 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army who received two bronze stars and a purple heart. Woody was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church. He was an avid golfer, bowler and he loved billiards. Woody was also a two-time National Duckpin Champion.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Berdych and Kathleen Cross and her husband William; three sons, Gary Wotton and his wife Carol, Kenneth Wotton and his wife Patricia and David Wotton and his wife Gina; six grandchildren, Christopher, Jesse, Billy, Justin, Ryan and Jarred and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Pichnarcik.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
