Beatrice “Bea” Gagne, 77, wife of 59 years of Richard A. Gagne Sr., passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born June 25, 1940 in Meriden to Joseph and Cecilia (Then) Pascucci.
Bea attended Meriden High School and worked for 19 years at Pratt & Whitney making jet engine parts. She was the founder of the Meriden Girls Softball League, a member of the Red Hats Society and a member of the Meriden Senior Center where she focused on numerous hobbies including painting, ceramics and whittling. Her pastimes included baking in which she would create beautiful characters cakes as well as wedding cakes and stamping which she enjoyed with her sister Virginia. She was a lifelong City of Meriden resident and a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Parish.
Beside her husband, she is survived by her four children; Richard A (Laura) Gagne Jr., Susan (Gary) VanTassell, Brian (Keila) Gagne and Cynthia Gagne, seven grandchildren; Richard, Joseph, Tressa, Kelly, Steven, Shannon and Gary Jr., two step-grandchildren, Jorge and Yaliek, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, MaryEllen Evilia and Virginia (Ginny) Pointer.
Anybody that had the opportunity to meet our Mother knows what a kind, trusting and caring person she was. Mom saw the good in everything and everyone. She will truly be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made in Bea’s memory to St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden CT 06450.
