The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.
Robert Alan Vumback, age 73, of Meriden, the beloved husband of the late June E. Vumback, entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Meriden on January 23, 1945, son of the late Arthur Vumback and Barbara (Eckstein) Stanko.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Meriden and attended Platt High School. He began his career at Meriden Gravure and went on to work at Fafnir Bearing and Stanley Works in New Britain. He retired from Acme Monaco in 2007. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, playing pool and was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed playing bass guitar with his friends in Larry’s Cellar.
His loving family includes his sons Robert F. Vumback and wife Mary of Meriden, CT; William J. Vumback and wife Dianne of Northford, CT; his daughter, Tamarra L. Duffy and husband Thomas of Wallingford, CT and six grandchildren, Marissa Vumback, Brittany Vumback, Ryan Duffy, Matthew Vumback, Brendon Duffy and Meghan Vumback. He also leaves behind his sister Lisa (Vumback) Victor and brothers Arthur Vumback and Jamey Vumback. He is survived by his most loyal canine companion, Lucky, who stayed by his side. He was predeceased by his wife June E. Vumback, his brother Wayne Vumback, and his sister Judy Vumback.
Family and close friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Saturday, Feb. 24th, at noon at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and close friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 12 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy in Robert’s memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
