Walter Alexander Evilia, passed away on January 17, 2018. He was born June 1, 1940 in New York City to parents Ida and Alexander Evilia. Although born in New York, he lived all but his first year in Meriden.
Walter was a graduate of Meriden High School. Although he was a victim of the Polio epidemic as a young boy he overcame the physical disability to become a successful business man and representative. He served a term as state representative to the Connecticut legislature and as mayor of Meriden. In his business career he founded Snack Time Vending, was co-owner of the Cabin restaurant and most recently, was founder and owner of Sans Souci restaurant.
Walter is survived by daughter Marna A. Evilia, brothers Ronald Evilia of North Carolina and Steven Evilia of Massachusetts, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Ellen Evilia (Pascucci) and daughter Marisa Evilia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, Mt. Carmel Campus, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J.
