Obituary for Elizabeth Anne "Betty Anne" Aitken (Zaborowski)

Elizabeth Anne "Betty Anne" Aitken (Zaborowski)
Elizabeth Anne “Betty Anne” Aitken passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 with her family by her side at the CT Baptist Home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of 47 years to William Russell Aitken Sr.
Betty was born on September 18, 1943 in Meriden, CT to late Frank and Anna Kicielinski Zaborowski and made Meriden her home for her life. She attended Saint Stanislaus School and was a 1961 graduate of Platt High School. Prior to having children, Betty worked for International Silver Company and then in 1984 went to work for Central Bank, eventually retiring from Verizon Wireless. Betty loved the time spent with her family even when her illness began to impact her memory. She loved gardening, music, UConn Woman’s Basketball and the New York Yankees.
She is survived by her sons, William Jr. (Christine) Aitken and Daniel (Nancy) Aitken all of Meriden; her daughters, Susan (Peter) Trella of Meriden and Ellen (Richard) Henderson of Enfield, CT; her brother Francis (Gwen) Zaborowski of West Bath, ME; her sister-in-law Anne Marie Zaborowski of Meriden; 9 grandchildren, Katie, Olivia, and Drew Aitken; Emily Bohannah and Sean Aitken; Anna and Peter Trella; Bailey and Miles Henderson. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Peter and Paul Zaborowski. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral to be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT. 06450 and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, Mt. Carmel Campus for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, January 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to The Connecticut Baptist Home, Attn: Therapeutic Recreation, 292 Thorpe Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Kensington and the CT Baptist Home for the caring and compassionate care they provided.
