Obituary for Margaret M. Lenz
Margaret M. Lenz, 101, died peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Miller Memorial Community surrounded by her family. Born in Meriden on May 15, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Hauptmann) Lenz. She was a lifelong Meriden resident and had attended Meriden High School and Laurel Business School. Miss Lenz was employed by International Silver for forty-nine years. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church and an active member of the St. Elizabeth Society. She was also a member of the Arts & Crafts of Meriden and the Meriden Choral Group. Margaret was a volunteer at the Meriden Shelter and the Curtis Home
She is survived by a sister, Esther Harduby of Weston, Vermont. Margaret is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews; Sheila, Mary and Susan Spellacy, Joseph Siebert, Diane L’Heureux, Linda Derrick, Cynthia Sjolander, Geraldine and Edward Lagace, Rose Brostic, Patricia Berger and Andrew, John, Charles, David and James Harduby and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by five sisters Sister Mary Ignatia (Dorothy) of Precious Blood Sisters of Watertown, NY, Louise Spellacy of Meriden, Lucille Siebert of Meriden, Marie Lenz of Meriden and Hilda Lagace of Fountain City, WI., a niece Kathleen Martin, a nephew Thomas Harduby and godson, Lawrence Spellacy.
The funeral will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden and at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, Holy Angels Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in the springtime. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Margaret’s family would like to thank the staff at Miller Memorial for her care and support.
