Janet Gardner, 78, of Wallingford passed peacefully from this earth Sunday, December 3, 2017 after a courageous battle from a long illness. She was the loving wife of Maxwell Gardner Sr.
Janet was born in Meriden, January 1, 1939 (a true New Year’s baby) and daughter of the late James and Lillian Reynolds of Meriden.
Janet was a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1957. She continued her education at the Meriden Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1960. She worked as a registered nurse for several years in various medical practices. She especially liked obstetrics and above all enjoyed caring for the “preemie” babies that she more than helped deliver.
Janet is predeceased by her sister Dorothy Ritchie of Meriden. In addition to her husband she is survived by her 4 children: Maxwell Gardner Jr. (Alexandra) of Weston CT, Lorie Russell (Barry) of Hinesburg VT, Pamela Seastrand (John) of Middlefield CT and Alison Anderberg (Niklas) of Lagerbrings Sweden. She also leaves behind her 4 beloved grandchildren: Sophia & Allegra Gardner and Lillian & Andrew Anderberg as well as many nieces and nephews.
Janet loved spending time with family and friends but especially her grandchildren. Janet had a zest for life and a very unique sense of humor. Her favorite past time was spending time at her lake cottage whether it be with family or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire with her girlfriends or just curled up with a good book, this was her heaven on earth.
Friends and relatives are invited to a “Celebration of Life” ceremony to be held on Friday December 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Calling hours prior to ceremony are from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the ALS Foundation.
