Giuseppe Privitera, 94, husband of the late Giuseppina (Fischetti) Privitera, died on Monday, November 27, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Randazzo, Sicily, Italy on July 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Pugliese) Privitera. He had resided in Meriden since 1955 and had attended school in Italy and worked as a carpenter there. Mr. Privitera was employed by International Silver Company. He worked part time at St. Stanislaus Cemetery with his son-in-law, Lenny for eighteen years. He was a veteran having served in the Italian Army during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Giuseppe loved his gardens and all wildlife. He was very devoted to God and loved his family above all else. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, wrestling and CNN.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Aurelia (Ada) and Leonard Mierzejewski Jr. and Concetta Privitera; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Salvatore and Marilyn Privitera and Carmelo J. Privitera; one grandson, Salvatore (Jacquelyn) Privitera; three granddaughters, BobbiJo (Matthew) Incitti, Amanda (David) Edwards and Christina Mierzejewski (Bret Hurst); two great-grandchildren, Olivia Josephine and Joseph Paul Edwards; four sisters-in-law, Carmela, Gaetana, Nancy and Liliana and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his seven siblings, Maria, Carmela, Giuseppina, Antonio, Ralph, Frank and Alfred.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron Street, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Friday, December 1st from 5 to 8 p.m.
