Obituary for Robert Winnie Jr.

Robert  Winnie Jr.
Robert E. Winnie Jr., 70, died on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Ct. Hospice in Branford after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on June 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert E. Winnie Sr and Helen (Clark) Winnie and had graduated from Orville H. Platt High School, Class of 1965. Mr. Winnie was employed by Greenbacker Agway in Meriden until his retirement in 2010. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Navy, Seabees. He was a member of the New Haven Society of Model Railroad Engineers.
He is survived by one step-daughter, Claire Marie Samuel of Florida; one son, Bryan Winnie of Adams, TN; two grandchildren, Cody and Christina Winnie of Adams, TN; two sisters, Virginia and Richard Forman of Cookeville, TN and Lauri Winnie and Ernie Bouchard of South Meriden, and two brothers, Harold Winnie of Waterbury and Aaron and Jessica Winnie of South Carolina. He is also survived by one niece and four nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Winnie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00pm at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Southington. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m.
