Obituary for Oscar Ortiz Jr.
Oscar Ortiz Jr., 70, husband of Eulalia Ortiz, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2017 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico on April 15, 1947, he was the son of Juanita Ortiz and the late Oscar Ortiz Sr. He had resided in Meriden for the last 38 years. He was a God-fearing man who dedicated his life to others and the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a longtime member of Alpha y Omega Christian Church and enjoyed fellowshipping at the Life of Faith Ministries in Meriden, Connecticut.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Keila Rivera and her husband Joshua Rivera, Karen Maldonado and Deborah Ortiz; his two sons, Zechariah Ortiz and his wife Jill Ortiz and Jeremiah Ortiz; eight grandchildren, Kyreem Reyes, Chynna-Rain White, Jaetou Ortiz, MiAziah Ortiz, Skylin Maldonado, DeCarlo Muñoz-Ortiz, Jaela Rivera and Jakeem Nelson; and one great-granddaughter, Nyla Shakes. He is also survived by his uncle Julio Matos, several cousins and his long-time friend, Valentino Ray. He was predeceased by his sister, Luz S. Ortiz.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Alpha y Omega Christian Church, 134 Springdale Avenue, Meriden, CT, 06451, at 12 p.m. with Rev. Rafael Torres officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Alpha y Omega Christian Church on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Alpha y Omega Christian Church.
