Obituary for Mary S. Dalton

Mary S. Dalton went with the Angels on September 8th at 6:58 p.m. She was in her own home of 70 years with her loving family. She was 94 years young.
Mary was predeceased by her dear husband of over 60 years, Marshall P. Dalton. They were of the greatest generation. They loved each other and they loved life. Mary is the daughter of Teofil and Katrina (Podgorski) Spreda. She was predeceased by one sister and five brothers. Mary is survived by her two sons, Thomas and his wife Sally and John H. and his wife Monica with whom Mary lived; two Grandchildren who truly loved their Gramjam Nana, Jessica of Hutto, TX and Johnathan of Meriden. A special thanks to Monica and Johnathan who put in endless hours of care for Mary.
Mary worked almost all of her adult life, before retiring in her sixties from Judge Lacy, Goodman Brothers, Attys Griglin and DeFrancis and finally the Meriden Housing Authority where she was the office manager at Mills Memorial Apartments for about 17 years. She was affectionately known as “Miss Mary” by the tenants.
Love and special thanks to Dr. David Ross-Russel and his nurse Amy, their care was above and beyond. Thanks to the wonderful people of Hospice and Musical therapist Cecilia, who had Mary singing and brought tears to our eyes.
Mary and Marshall will again be hand in hand as they walk with God. Her numerous friends and family will miss seeing her sitting on her beloved front porch looking into Hubbard Park` watching the herons. As she would often say: “May God Bless you all”
A grave side service will be held on September 27th at 11am at Sacred Heart cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council #2, P.O. Box 688, Meriden, CT, 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT, 06450.
