Arthur R. Thode, 78, of Killingworth, passed on Monday, August 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Burnham Thode and his children, Wendy Cianci and her husband Robert Kopeck of Killingworth, Kimberly Zajac and her husband Jeffrey of Durham, Arthur Thode Jr. and Michelle Morin of Meriden, Brian Thode and Chantal Madore, Alison Thode and Holden Anden of Killingworth and his grandchildren, Jenifer and Heather Zajac, Nicole and Kristen Cianci and Haddam Thode and great-granddaughter, Aleesia.
After serving thirty-eight years on the Meriden Police Department, retiring Badge No 1, he enjoyed his retirement, actively farming his land in Killingworth that has been in the family for multi-generations. He also enjoyed spending time in his summer home in Laconia, NH and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. The White Mountains of New Hampshire held a special place in his heart throughout his long life. Over the years he enjoyed the companionship of several beloved dogs. His hobbies included motorcycling, farming, swimming, karate and collecting guns among other items. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 24th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450 on Wednesday, August 23rd from 4 to 7 pm.
