Obituary for James A. "Jim" Olson
James A. “Jim” Olson, 80, passed away on May 8, 2017 at Midstate Medical Center. He was a faithful friend of Bill W. Born in Lubec, Maine on October 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Harold and Doris (Sealy) Olson. After graduating from high school in Lubec, he moved to Madison, Conn. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney prior to his retirement in 1996. After retirement, he split his time between Lubec and Plantsville. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie McGough and her partner, David Bouchard of Levant, ME and Cindy Murray and her husband David of Lubec, ME; a son Larry Olson of Clinton; a brother, John Olson of New Haven; two sisters, Laura Calder and Rhoda Eaton of Lubec, ME; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friend Carleen Kenyon and her daughter, Kathleen Kenyon. He was predeceased by his former wife Diana and his four brothers, Ernest Olson and his wife Dottie, George Olson and his wife Ina, Bob Olson and his wife Marie and Ted Olson.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. A funeral service and burial will be held at a later date in Olson Cemetery in Lubec. Jim’s family would like to thank the critical care unit at Midstate Medical Center.
