Obituary for Francisco "Pancho" Gonzalez
Francisco “Pancho” Gonzalez, 77, husband of Dorys Aviles Gonzalez passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Masonicare in Wallingford after a lengthy illness. He was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on May 13, 1939, the son of the late Martin Gonzalez and Cruz Mercado. Pancho has resided in Meriden for most of his life. Mr. Gonzalez worked for the Meriden Foundry for over 14 years and Leon’s Bakery of North Haven for over 15 years prior to retirement. He was a member of Iglesia Faro de Luz.
Besides Doris, his wife of 45 years, he is survived by two daughters, Ines Soto and Mayra MacCarron both of Illinois; five sons, Jose L. Gonzalez and his wife Karen, Edwin Gonzalez and his wife Pamela and Francisco Gonzalez Jr., all of Illinois, Roberto Vargas and his wife Yolanda and Jose L. Vargas and his wife Gladys, both of Meriden; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by five sisters, Ramonita, Julia and Emilia Gonzalez, Nereida Crespo and Andrea Kokoszka, one brother, Jesus Gonzalez and numerous nieces and nephews. Pancho was predeceased by three sisters, Maria Torres, Carmen and Justina Gonzalez, one brother, Heriberto Gonzalez and a great-great-grandchild, Isaiah Vargas Jr.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 30th from 4 to 8 p.m.
