Alicia Rivera, 56, died on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville after a long illness. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on September 26, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Luis Rivera and Adela Soto. Mrs. Rivera resided in Meriden for over 30 years. Alicia was employed at the Kogut Nursery and was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alice Marie Vargas and her husband Orosmari Aguilar and Cristina Vargas; her two sons, Alex Vargas and his wife Nausica and Christian Vargas and his wife Janisse and 11 grandchildren. She is also survived by ten siblings including her sister, Onaida Rivera and her brother, Wilfredo “Chelo” Rivera of Meriden and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT. 06450 on Friday, April 28th from 5 to 8 pm.
