Francis S. Olszewski, 96, husband of sixty-five years to Mary H. (Wolkowicz) Olszewski, died peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Masonic Health Care Center. Born in Naugatuck on September 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Stanley and Veronica Olszewski. He had resided in Meriden for the past seventy years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, 1st Division in Europe and Africa. He received a bronze star. Mr. Olszewski was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Polish Knights.
Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by two sons, Francis (Tina) Olszewski Jr of Wallingford and Patrick (Anne) Olszewski of Middlefield; two grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Olszewski of Rockfall and David (Kirstin) Olszewski of Durham; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cole, Madeleine, Audrey and Olivia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Estelle Bianco and Helen Butkas.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 9:30 at St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 18th (TODAY) from 4 – 8 pm. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
