Obituary for Raymond J. Beaudry
Raymond J. Beaudry, 90, beloved husband of the late Gloria Jean Kinsey Beaudry, died peacefully at his home in Meriden on Saturday, March 25, 2016, after struggling with kidney disease for many years. Born July 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Emile and Annette (Paradis) Beaudry, also of Meriden. He leaves this world with the love, admiration, and respect of his children and his grandchildren.
Raymond attended Meriden High School, leaving at age 17 to serve his country in the Navy at the end of WWII. Later, he earned his diploma and furthered his education through night school which helped him attain a foreman's job in experimental x-ray at Pratt & Whitney, North Haven, from which he retired in 1983. Ray tirelessly worked overtime, grew and sold vegetables, raised chickens and sold their eggs, and researched investments at the library to secure his family's financial health. Despite success, he and Gloria lived frugally, always enjoying their life together and the times spent with their children and grandchildren. After retirement, they wintered in Florida, playing shuffleboard and golf. While hardly a braggart, Ray did manage to mention in golf conversations his four holes- in-one, due to his “skills,” of course. And always, until her death in 2015, Raymond and Gloria were devoted to each other and the two will always be remembered together by those who knew and loved them.
Raymond is survived by his children, Richard, of Lynchburg, VA; Kenneth and his wife, Regina (Jachimczyk); Loretta Gosselin and her husband, David, of Cheshire; Diane and her husband, Robert Jungquist, of Victor, NY; Steven and his wife, Celine (Migliaccio) of Little Rock, AR; Mary Ellen Dietrich and her husband, Butch, of Myerstown, PA; Daniel and his wife, Polly Gillis, of Haddam. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Poulaino, three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to Gloria, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Albert and Lawrence, by his son, Phillip, and by his grandson, Michael.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden, and at 11 a.m. at St. Laurent Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will be in St. Laurent Cemetery.
