Claire Kolek Barillaro
Claire Virginia Kolek Barillaro, 85, wife of the late Albert F. Barillaro, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017. Born in Meriden on January 10, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (DiGiovanni) Kolek. She was a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1950.
Mrs. Barillaro worked at Countryside Dairy where she met her husband Albert, Charles Parkers, Card Gallery, Briar Patch, Westfort Green House and Suzio’s Insurance. A lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a member of the Mt. Carmel Society, Claire crowned the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1951 and sang with the senior choir. She was a member of the Meriden Senior Center and Southington Festival Chorus. She enjoyed bingo and loved her pets.
She leaves four sons; Peter (Margaret) Barillaro, David (Lori) Barillaro, John Barillaro and Michael (Christine) Barillaro, ten grandchildren; Carissa, Amanda, Gianina, Dominic, Christopher, Matthew, Melaina, Michael, Michelle and Natalie, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Louise DiNino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Franciscan Hospice, 267 Finch Ave, Meriden, CT 06451.
