On January 3, 2017 around midnight, Scott David Ellis, 44, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Scott is the son of Michael and Diane Ellis and brother of George Ellis. He is also survived by his children, Jacob and Jessica and their mother, Carrie; Gina Pluta, his longtime girlfriend and Lucy, his constant canine companion and fierce protector. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews complete his family circle. Scott was a member of the Connecticut National Guard. He worked for many years at Star Distributors. He loved playing softball and could hit the ball a mile. He also liked the finesse of a competitive dart match. Scott was a great cook and could put together a wonderful meal from the most basic ingredients. His clam chowder was always a hit. He loved watching football and was a lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing fantasy football, choosing his players and checking his stats each week. Scott’s favorite evenings were spent watching a movie with Gina and the kids after serving them a delicious dinner.
The funeral will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10 am at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 3 to 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Scott’s family suggests a donation to the Maloney High School Football Team or a charity of their choice. They also request friends and family to perform a random act of kindness in Scott’s memory. Rest in peace Scottie, you are greatly loved and will always be missed.
